they are all checked xcept for alsa-utils, and hardware monitor. Shouldn't these be checked? otherwise, why not?

Alsa-utils is not really necessary unless you are having trouble with sound and need to reconfigure alsa. The Hardware Monitor is actually lm-sensors for keeping track of tempatures for your hard drive and CPU..If you don't use them, you don't need to have them running.
